apple turon

category: dessert, snacks
serving: makes 10 rolls.

this is another recipe for my roll entry but this time i used lumpia wrapper instead of bread. i really wnated to make banana turon but when we went to carrefour, therewas no saba banana anymore. i should have bought plenty during the last time there were saba. tsk... tsk... tsk...

i still have apples, so i used apple instead. i remembered the apple pie sold at mc donalds. hehehe... this was a winner for makuy though.

ingredients:
1 apple, peeled, cored and sliced into thin strips
1/2 tsp. cinnamon powder
1 tbsp. white sugar
10 lumpia wrappers
3 tbsp. brown sugar
1 cup cooking oil

procedure:
combine together the apple, cinnamon powder and white sugar.

put some apple slices on lumpia wrapper - just like you're wrapping a lumpiang shanghai - roll a little bit. then fold the two sides towards the center and continue rolling until you almost reached the end. brush the end with a little water and close. do this until you finished all the apple slices. set aside.

heat the cooking oil in a sauce pan and melt the sugar over medium high heat. cook the turon roll in batches until golden brown and fully coated with the melted brown sugar. drain on a strainer.

this can be served with vanilla ice cream.
